Hi Dionne..
It is just behind Janes Place in Huafa New Town.
Just say to the Taxi driver "Huafa Xin Cheng". And get off on the street where there is all the restaurants. Find Janes and go behind the restaurant. You will see it right away...
If you have a problem, you can always call me at 15019928114.
I use Jacky, I think he's # 5 hairstylist....Don't hesitate to call me if you have issues.. I just live 2 minutes away from the salon...

Kowloon hospital
Hi Cheeky:
WHen the hospital staff chats online, is it in English or Chinese? I recently emailed them (after seeing a review here on Delta Bridges), but they did not answer.

Zhuhai Kowloon Hospital (Zhuhai)
I emailed the hospital to see if they could serve me in English. They haven't replied, so I assume they operate in Chinese only.

TPR initiates Children’s Charity Fund - By Betty Lin
Nice story. Bu Duan Wang, a group of Jinan University students, is also doing a lot to help country-side elementary students to receive better education through Online Learning. They are a non-profit organization and volunteer their time; they also deserve media attention. If you'd like to find ways to help, I encourage you to visit www.buduanwang.cn (Their site has English translation now) or friend me on Delta Bridges. Thank you!

bars in Foshan?
As I told you in my last comment, I am in Shunde with my husband, so I don't know much about Foshan. The "cozy" bars tend to be coffee houses that also sell beer and wine and whatever else. They can be really quiet.
Otherwise, you'll get the typical local flashing chasing colored lights, crappy schmaltzy AWFUL love ballads (miss decent music for sure ---- no jazz, no blues, no classic or alternative rock, no country), smoke everywhere, loud drunken dice slamming stuff.
But a place a lot of Westerners seem to hang out is in Panyu, called Cohibas. Of course, there are a lot of local wannabes who show up, too, but the simple fact of the matter is that NO PLACE can survive in Foshan or Shunde just catering to a purely Western target market. Our numbers simply aren't large enough.
That's why I try to network out as much as possible. It's mainly so I can deal with being so isolated from everything comfortable and familiar to me.
By the way, if you don't want creepy guys annoying you, I'd delete the pic!!!!! :) Something happens to dudes doing extended stints here, and they go crazy. A lot of them are losers back home and can reinvent themselves here.
You know, a couple of things I did to make life more bearable included buying a decent hybrid bike (Giant is the brand to get here) and taking a spin mornings at the big park near us --- Shunfeng Park. People here do NOT like to get up early, and you will have the place to yourself till noon....at least! You will find health conscious Westerners there if you go often enough (the local Giant bike store). I might even hang up a flyer about networking at mine and organizing outings....not necessarily having to do with bicycling. It just seems that THAT is where I have seen the less creepy Westerners who are actually interested in something other than getting drunk every night and looking for a piece of tail.
Although, some partying on the weekends is an option not to be dismissed!
By the way, there is noone who knows how to make authentic New York Style Cheesecake here. It always looks great, but then you bite into it, and there's nothing there! Same goes for pizza. It's not supposed to have canned corn on it. I miss salads, too.
Let me know what you find out. I'm still searching around for some finds and advice myself, even though I've been coming here for 6 years.

moved to foshan.
Hi. There are a sprinkling of we Westerners in Shunde with the same problem. I am here more and more with my husband (our 3 kids are grown) attending to whatever crisis is current at our business....haha.
So, we don't live here, but we seem to be here more and more and for longer and longer stays, to the point where it's hitting 50% of the year or more.
I know exactly where you're coming from. It is nearly impossible to find good Western food. There is no real sense of what that means here, just like our Chinese food bears zero resemblance to what they eat here.
I miss the nature more than anything. A little less than two years ago, we went on the trip of a lifetime, a camera safari to Tanzania. This trip, we started out in Thailand snorkeling for 10 days first, so it was ESPECIALLY tough to deal with the total absence of clean air, green space, and wildlife.
I can't find a birdfeeder anywhere, either. They're either kept in cages or grilled! LOL.
As far as Western food goes, we occasionally head on down to Guangzhou, but I know there are a couple places opening soon in Foshan, and I thought one guy told me there is already an authentic Italian one there. I'll check it out. I am dying to know, too. I have started cooking at home. I can only eat so much Asian food morning, noon, and night and need to mix it up.
Believe me, I am dying for more Western places, food, and experiences, too (plus, of course, the nature thing). It's not practical to run to Hong Kong or Thailand every weekend, and the HK crowds get to me.

2010 DB VIP card?
Dear cheekygal,
I checked, I sent you the confirmation email on 11 Mar, 4 days ago. Usually, once you have confirmed my email, it will take about one week for your card to be ready.
But now the pick up venue you choose - Alain's BBB is under reconstruction, so we are thinking about the solution.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We will contact you soon after we figure it out.

Which part of Shenzhen to live at
in my opinion Nanshan is a great place to live, it is clean but still has
some chinese flair and is not to modernized cold. It is close to the sea.
It is very green and has many parks and gardens. No wonder that many government buildings has moved to Nanshan.
Also close to Shekou / Seaworld and also to Window of the world with
the new Art Zone around OCT Loft ... Once the Metro is pushed
forward connection will be improved further, although i like going with
bus also, if it is not rush-hour ;) -
