L C Chinese Language Center (Zhuhai)

I met with Xian Wei and Sophia for about an hour and came away very impressed. I am an engineer and also have a business degree, I am 43 and have lived in a few other countries. Similar to many other people, I speak more than one language, so have a good idea of how to learn, where I am at in the language learning process and what immediate and long term goals I have. Suffice to say, Xian had similar ideas and also spoke english well enough to be able to design a program where I can learn advanced engineering, construction and business language. I have been unable to find this anywhere else. I recommend at least meeting with Xian and his staff.

Wow ! I am an American and have been a student at the school in Zhuhai. I have traveled and worked in China since 1991, but my Mandarin never got much better until I went to this school for several weeks and daily classes.

Both Qian and Sophia are great teachers. I have had private lessons before, but being with them was so much better. When I attended, the school was only a few students. I think its growth is because of its quality.

If you are looking for good, friendly and trustworthy teachers, go to LC. They adapted my classes to fit my needs - basic reading for menus, asking for food and having social discussions about family, work and interests.

One thing I liked the best are the friends I made there with other students. Qian and Sophia try to be sure there is a family environment and introduced me to many of the other students. We got together for some beer and karoake, so it really made my stay in Zhuhai alone much more fun.

I've been there from last year february to this year,
for my year off from my job in germany.
I've seen another school before i started and it seemed to be a little bit to straight there for me.
Good decision i made. Qian and Sophia are really good teachers and great persons.
One thing i will miss most when i be back in germany-Going to school!

I had been studying Chinese oral and writing lessons with Mr. Qian, Sophia and Lucy for the past four months and I would say that I immensely enjoyed learning from them. They are very patient to their students and very flexible with the class schedule as well. I already studied with them for almost 50 hours already and I would say my Chinese vocabulary/character recognition has increased compared to studying by myself alone. You will not only learn the rudimentary skills in speaking/writing Chinese but you will also have the chance to experience the diverse cultures of China. They offer a free Saturday session called the Chinese Saloon wherein you can learn Chinese games, sing some famous Chinese songs and listen to Chinese musical instruments played live in front of you.

Now only if I can find Chinese locals who are as patient as them then my Chinese learning would be a breeze. So they say practice makes you perfect. Deliberate practice, that is.

I would definitely recommend LC Chinese Language Center to foreigners here in Zhuhai.

I began private classes with Sophia and Qian as soon as I moved to Zhuhai. LC prices are very reasonable and they always work hard to adjust classes according to my schedule. They are very patient teachers who never seems to tire of repeating the same word over and over for you until you get it right. More than wonderful teachers, they quickly became friends- meeting up before class for lunch to show me Chinese cuisine, bringing me to local markets to shop for furniture items, helping me bargain with a seamstress, getting me a bus pass, and then months later taking me to the police station after I was pickpocketed on the bus!
When we go over vocabulary, Qian is always sure to teach phrases associated with those new words. He also can explain the derivation of radicals and characters from their historical evolution as a pictogram to the modern-day character. These explanations have not only been very entertaining (like a mini-history lesson), but they have been essential in helping me recall how to write/read particular characters. Sophia challenges me to increase the fluidity of my speech and perfect my tones through extended discussions. Both have helped my listening comprehension by speaking at a normal speed and only slowing down if I don't understand after several attempts. We go over the grammar after reading text, so I can quickly incorporate new sentence structures into my daily conversations. My speaking, reading, writing and listening ability have all dramatically improved in just six months. Xie xie LC!

I enjoy going to LC Chinese Language School. It surprises me all the time how patient Qian is with repeating things over and over because I have forgotten or just don't get it right. It is a great place to study/explore the Chinese Language (written and spoken) and Culture. One can see and experience that Qian loves to teach :-)
