Lushington Entertainments proudly announces the legendary THE STONE ROSES Live at the AsiaWorld-Arena on 24 July 2012. Ticket sales launch on 12 April at 10am.
Legendary British guitar group The Stone Roses have reunited. The classic band line-up of Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani (aka Gary Mounfield) and Reni (aka Alan Wren) are set to play their first ever live concert in Hong Kong this July.
On 18 October 2011, a press conference was held to announce that The Stone Roses are back, and would be embarking on a series of shows across the world this summer. Ian Brown proclaimed that the band were "ready to take the world by storm”. Their first two shows in the UK sold 150,000 tickets only 14 minutes after going on sale.
The band’s eponymous debut album was released in 1989, followed by the single She Bangs The Drums giving them their first UK Top 40 hit. The double A-side Fools Gold/What The World Is Waiting For was released four months later and became their first ever Top 10 hit. Other hit tracks from the album included I Wanna Be Adored, Made of Stone, Waterfall and I Am The Resurrection.
Their seminal record reignited British guitar music, and in 1990 the group won four NME Readers poll awards including, Band of the Year, Best New Band, Album of the Year, and Single of the Year (Fools Gold). The band followed their win with a brand new single release, One Love, reaching #4 on the UK singles chart.
In 2006, the album topped NME’s "100 Greatest British Albums Ever" list. In 2009, NME produced a special issue of the magazine celebrating the album's 20th anniversary, labeling it as "the greatest debut album ever." In 2010, The Stone Roses won the Mojo Classic Album award. Mojo stated that the band had 'managed to sum up an era, and to create a piece of work that also transcends the time in which it was made', before asking 'Is there a more iconic British album of the last two decades?’.
The Stone Roses’ second album Second Coming was released in December 1994. The album was certified platinum, with a million copies sold worldwide. The single ‘Love Spreads’ preceded the album release with their highest ever chart position, reaching #2 on the UK.
Now following the announcement of The Stone Roses reunion, fans in Hong Kong will have the opportunity to catch this iconic guitar band live at the AsiaWorld-Arena for the first time ever.
