The Procession of the Passion of Our Lord, the God Jesus is part and parcel of the cultural fabric of Macau. On this festive day, a figure of Christ carrying the Cross is taken in formal procession from St. Augustine's Church to Macau Cathedral for an overnight vigil. The next day, several devotees dressed in purple robes will carry the artefact on a platform back to St. Augustine's Church. Along the procession route they will pause for the stations of the cross, designating the tragic events which took place from the condemnation of Christ to the placing of the body in the tomb after his death on the Cross.
