The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. promotes one more concert in the Macao Orchestra Chamber Music Series entitled “Impressions of the 20th Century Music”, to be held on July 4, Saturday, at 8pm, at Dom Pedro V Theatre. The concert’s repertoire features the Music Hall Suite by Joseph Horovitz (b. 1926), Wind Quintet, op.43 by Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) and Verklärte Nacht, op. 4 by Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951).
With its theatrical quality, Horovitz’s Suite brilliantly exploits the five orchestral brass instruments throughout five movements that evoke the lively atmosphere of music hall performances, burlesque theatre, circus and cabaret, so popular at the end of the 19th century and into the 20th.
