Niu Niu is the nickname of Zhang Shengliang, born 11th July, 1997, in Xiamen, Fujian province, China. He grew up in a musical environment, and first showed his talent at the age of three, and received his first lessons from his father.
Niu Niu’s current mentor is Chen Hungkuan, a famous professor of New England Conservatory in Boston.
At the age of Six, he made his concert debut in August 2003, a few weeks after his sixth birthday. His programme included a Mozart piano sonata and a Chopin étude. Soon after this he moved to Shanghai, where the Shanghai Conservatory of Music invited him to enroll, aged just eight, he became the youngest ever student in its 81-year history.
Currently Niu Niu studies at the New England Conservatory where he enrolled with the full scholarship and as the youngest student. The 3rd album (Liszt Transcriptions) for Niu Niu which produced by EMI Classics headquarter will be coming out in June 2012 and this album will be worldwide released by EMI. Niu Niu will immediately start his 2012 Tour in Japan, Taiwan as well as China.
