Event Description

The Chinese have a saying: 'Firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea are the seven necessities to begin a day.' Though tea is last on the list, we still can see the importance of tea in daily life.

A simple meal in Chinese is Cu Cha Dan Fan, namely coarse tea and tasteless dinner. Even a simple meal is finished off with tea so its importance is obvious.

For the Chinese, tea drinking and tea tasting are not the same. Tea drinking is for refreshment and tonic effect.

Tea tasting has cultural meaning. Tea and tea wares should match surrounding elements such as breeze, bright moon, pines, bamboo, plums . All these show the ultimate goal of Chinese culture: the harmonious unity of human beings with nature.

Lanting Teahouse will have a tea presentation on 29th July from 3:30pm .

ohhh.. sounds like fun! Will be there. I'll bring some more "foreigner" friends for the experience. :)

being a chinese, i like tea drinking, as my grandmother told me it can bring me longevity although she has passed away at the year of 2008 when she is 96, so i will be there to learn something about tea tasting, i hope i can combined tea drinking with tea tasting so i can live as long as possible if the world of tomorrow is more interesting but not just eating sleeping working like today
