Beaches in Zhuhai?
Hi there,
Does Zhuhai have any clean beaches where I can take the kids? Thanks.
Paul
Clean is a relative notion. For me, the answer is no. For others, locals for sure, the answer is different. The main Zhuhai beach is along Qingli Lu in Jida. You can get there on the #99 or #25 bus. When the weather is nice it is crowded with locals. I have taken my daughter there and let her play in the sand, but I will not let her in the water.
There are probably other beaches in the outskirts of Zhuhai, but I would not go in that water either.
My apologies ahead of time, if my personal opinion is viewed as disrespectful to what I consider to be the best city in all of China to live in. :-p
There are some pristine beaches on the islands. You can check ferry schedules and ask about the best beaches for swimming.
you can go to Dong'ao Island. Dongao Island is a beautiful landscape, including gentle slopes, dense forests, and the clear water along its three beaches: Nansha Bay, Dazhu Bay, and Xiaozhu Bay. Dongao used to be one of the most prosperous places in this group of islands during the Qing dynasty.
have a good time!
Yeah, there are no beaches with clean water in these parts. I swim at the one DaveB mentioned at Jida, but wouldn't let a kid swim there. It is the Pearl River Delta, not the Ocean. It is fresh water there, not salt. The sand on the beach is sort of clean, I guess.
There are some not bad beaches in island. You can check this website:http://www.zhhaidao.com/miaowan/view.html, sorry that no english version. But you can see some photos. But translate it by google translation.
If you want to go to very nice beaches, I recommend Sanya, Hainan Province. There is direct flight from Zhuhai to Sanya.
DO NOT GO IN THE WATER IN ZHUHAI!
@nancy0111....Dong Ao was pretty disgusting last time I went..never going back there again.
Opinions may vary regarding the cleanliness of the islands mentioned.
As Dave said, it is all relative.
actually besides the sea not being that clean you have to remember the color of the sea here is due to the clay in the sand and all the rocks. Deeper into the sea the water gets its "normal" blue /green.
Appearance is deceiving. I once found the water near the city to be very clear and clean in appearance. There was a document released by Wikileaks written by the US Consulate in Guangzhou concerning the water that flows from Guangzhou. It is extremely polluted.
@paulj;
Thanks for reminding me of that article. I read it too and that is exactly my point. I actually wouldn't go into any water in the delta area, even out by the islands.
Hac Sa bay in Macau is quite nice.I have been there a few times.

To all, thanks for sharing your experiences with beaches. Once my kids see water they'll want to jump in, so I'll likely avoid the beach in Jida and head for one of the islands.
I'm new to this forum and have already gleaned a lot of great info from past posts. Thanks to all who contribute to this site. In the future I hope to be able to contribute as well.
