Mattress topper
As you all probably know, most mattresses in China are very hard. We're looking for a place that sells mattress toppers (other thank IKEA) or a place that would sell us a large piece of foam, perhaps a furniture upholstery place . Does anyone know where we could find this in Zhuhai or near by? We have seen some places with small mattress toppers but we need king size.

have you asked those places you've seen about bigger size? By topper you mean something like a comforter? I can suggest you 2 options - pi fa street - narrow street opposite phoenix garden. They sell furniture there and if you can communicate in Chinese you can inquire there. Another option - taobao. You could also find a thin soft blanket and use it instead. We just bought a really nice mattress for around 900 which has 15 years quality guarantee and it's been with us for nearly 3. That's an option if you are staying long term.
Also, check the night market in South Gongbei, near the tunnel. The building is sort of behind Canon, where Rama Yoga studio is (downstairs). They open at 3 pm and work till 9 or 10 pm? We were there yesterday and I saw lots of things for beds and toppers made out of straws and what seemed as from fabric. I am not sure where you live. You can get to Bei Ling Bus stop and it is around that area. Or to Zhu Yuan and the walk to the tunnel and cross to the street that leads towards Gongbei.
In Qianshan, heading north away from the river on San Tai Shi Lu nearly across from the main entrance to Jinan Daxue there is a strip of shops on the bottom floor. The first shop has a large sign that reads, "AMERICAN STANDARD." They obviously sell bath fixtures, etc. Near the end of this strip (I can't remember exactly) is a shop that sells mattresses, bedding and such.
They have what I think you're looking for. Fairly dense foam pads 1.5 to 2 inches thick, covered in a nice material. I found one measuring 180x200 which should be king size for 600 kuai. They told me that they had reduced them from 900 because they weren't selling many. Seemed like a pretty could deal to me.
Remember, the strip of shops will be on the left hand side of San Tai Shi Lu as you head north.

I've been thinking about buying one for a while, but the wife's Chinese and may not like it. 150 kuai for delivery from Shanghai seems like a good deal.

bed shop in Jida, Jida road beside 7 days inn. they have memmory foam like pillows. it is great. but expensive ,you mite have to buy two to make it king size. but then if the wife doesn`t like it just buy for your half of the bed.

Not a comforter but an extra couple of inches of soft material that makes the mattress better to sleep on. We have asked if they have bigger sizes but they usually don't have that big of a size plus we haven't liked the quality we've seen most of the smaller sizes. Thanks for the pi fa street info. We'll check it out.
