new here in zhuhai
Hi I am new here in zhuhai.
looking for new friends.
heres my qq: 1523220939
i like playing billiard, drink some beer and doing some adventure stuffs like climbing, camping and cycling
you want adventure, try crossing the street during rush over in China.
Not so funny at rush hour. My wife always cautions me as I cross the street, as if drivers will deliberately hit me. Next time I will carry a baseball bat, and see how the drivers of expensive cars react as I take aim at their grills and headlights.
Guys we in China obey the laws of physics so cars (metal) have the right away. On a Gida street one laowai with his daughter in hand stare us down while he try to cross the street. I was like fine I let you go but problem is that that was a 4 lane street. The car on the next lane did not yield and almost kill them. The driver even yell something in Chinese.
Nevermore, that is so not true! If metal had right of way, half the Chinese population would have been wiped out by now! I spend the majority of my driving avoiding people who think there is no one else on the road so of course it is safe to just cross and nt even look to see if it is safe!
The driving rules in China are the same as any country. Drivers just choose to ignore them and there are not enough police to enforce them. In your situation you followed the law, the other driver did not.
18.104.22.168 When encountering children on the road, the driver should _________.
A. Honk to indicate the intention B. Reduce speed and go slowly, or stop to yield when necessary C. Swiftly bypass from one side D. Speed up and bypass Answer: B
行车中遇儿童时,应当 。 A.鸣喇叭示意 B.减速慢行,必要时停车避让 C.迅速从一侧通过 D.加速绕行
Ops, my pregnancy brain made me omit that the above example is just one of the many questions in the Zhuhai theory driving test in connection with what to do if you encounter pedestrians on the road!
In reality Chinese traffic follows the rules of kinetic energy. But I believe we're getting off topic here.
Again, I recommend the baseball bat. Curiously, no one seems to be taking up the idea with any sort of enthusiasm.
Taffy, how's the driving going? You haven't been driving for long here have you?
I've driven all over the country, and this may shock some, the driving here is the best I have seen in China.
Still pretty bad, obviously, but comparatively...
You should all try Zhengzhou.
How do you say "If you honk I will not pay you" in Chinese to a taxi-driver?
Turtle, it is wicked I love it, having a car has changed my life in China!
You are right the driving here is a lot tamer than many other places, Suzhou was pretty bad, they never even stopped at the traffic lights!!! The issue here is that there seems to be that other drivers think everyone else does not exist, especially those pesky taxi drivers. I also think the driving test is set up to allow aggressive drivers to continue to be aggressive as you must always 'stop or slow down and yield' to them!
I've only ever driven here (& the UK) but I've been to India with work and the driving in China is very tame in comparison! Over there they drive in the dark with no lights just using the horn to let people know they are there, mountains on one side and sheer cliff faces on the other, I did the return journey in daylight!! If anyone has taken the road from Mumbai to Naski at night you will know exactly what I mean! Strange experience
Sorry to you BrianWizard for stealing your post! I hope you can forgive us?
Cool bananas Taffy,
It does make a huge difference to living in China (IMHO), and you can get used to it pretty quickly, though I still swear a lot.
How I have managed thus far without a bingle is beyond me.
Yeah, sorry BW, not my fault though, as I refuse to take responsibility for anything, ever.
Let's celebrate the foundation of the club "survive from the traffic in China".
They need to make a law to at least have cars yield when they make a right turn.
We are new to Zhuhai from California. Just me, my husband and our dog.
