Several local development projects are expected to materialize in a deal to be signed between Grenadian and Chinese officials.
The deal will be formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding twinning the Town of St. George with Foshan, a city in the Chinese Province of Guangdong.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter David said he was delighted to know that the Chinese authorities see the Town of St. George as a significant city that could be partnered with Foshan. He said that it meant a lot that they saw the Town of St George as being significant enough to twin with such a developed city in China.
The Town of St. George celebrations, which have officially started, will culminate in April 2010. Authorities in Guangdong have indicated interest in embarking on projects in the Town to promote the anniversary celebrations.
A five-member Chinese delegations is in Grenada for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Tuesday January 26.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter David who is also MP for the town of St. George,said the twinning will be beneficial to both the Chinese and Grenadian cities, including in the area of tourism exchange.
