Shenzhen-Hong Kong service sector zone

Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang has called for the establishment of a joint-service sector demonstration zone in Shenzhen’s Qianhai district. During a trip to Shenzhen earlier this week, Secretary Tang said that a task force would be created with Guangdong authorities to design a park where both sides can promote infrastructure, creative industries, and increase the flow of people, traffic and trade. Qianhai bonded port is 3.7 square meteres in size in the west of Shenzhen and is pivotal for international shipping, distribition, sourcing, transit trade and export processing. It is also strategically located between Shenzhen and the Hong Kong airport, said Secretary Tang. The task force will also look into ways that a zone of this nature in Shenzhen can be part of the proposed pilot measures outlined for the Plan for the Reform & Development of the Pearl River Delta for 2020, he said.

Guangzhou home sales soar

Guangzhou housing sales are rebounding. According to reports in the Chinese media, 13,253 residental properties in nice garden estates and private communities were sold this past May. This is a record high over 2008 and rivals figures from the Guangzhou housing peak of 2007, say analysts. The majority of sales were made in Tianhe, Panyu and Huadu districts. Increased consumer confidence also saw sales of second-hand properties soar. The average price for second-properties reached RMB 9,648 per square meter in May, according to Centaline properties in Guangzhou. The city's highest second-sale was in the central Yuexiu district at RMB 12,522 per square meter.

Dongguan's 2020 highway

Dongguan's Deputy Secretary General Ren Xintai has announced that the city's new highway terminals will follow Delta 2020 integration plans. Secretary Ren said, “Dongguan hopes to improve the level of standards its transport and strengthen its role in the PRD.” The planning of the Dongguan and Shenzhen national highway system and transport terminal junction aims at improving logistics for manufacturing and rapid tranist enhancement for workers and managers. Moreover, this highway project will be, “Different from the distribution planning of Dongguan's highway passenger and goods station,” from 2004, said Zhong Yonggang, the Chief Engineer of the Dongguan Transporation Bureau. Mr. Zhong also remarked that, “the new master planning will be a national level plan based on the national situation and the newly released PRD integration plan.” You know.
