Macau residents can enjoy Personal Renminbi (RMB) Services at all 14 Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) branches from Monday, which includes opening deposit accounts, savings and time deposits, exchange services and conduct remittance in RMB.
According to the company’s statement, “this is a step forward signifying an even closer economic tie between Mainland and Macau as well as further opening up of the RMB market, along with greater demand of RMB services by the general public.”
BNU offers 0.5 percent p.a. to RMB savings deposits and customers can also choose RMB time deposits with tenures ranging from one to six months.
Also, customers can enjoy exchange services including conversion of other currencies into RMB or vice versa, deposit account holders can exchange up to RMB 20,000 per person per day through their account and for cash operation, the exchange ceiling for each transaction is RMB 20,000.
In addition, customers can remit RMB to their own bank accounts in Mainland with a daily limit of RMB 50,000 per person.
