Delta Weekend Advisory

Briefing

Delta Inter-Chamber Networking in Zhongshan. Brazilian Carnival Zhuhai. Korean rain in Macau. French
Sunday lunch in Guangzhou. And urban amor at the Shenzhen Ritz-Carlton....

In the rearview mirror:

Father’s are still taking cat-naps from their fill of Sunday brunches. Dr, Robert Kirby’s Macau Professional Happy Hour at the Hard Rock Cafe hit high chords. Yes, it rocked hard… Taiwan chick act S.H.E. painted the town red in Macau with their lipstick pop at the Venetian.

The Zhuhainights.com beach bash in Zhuhai was as much splash as slosh. Avila stole the day at the Zhuhai International Circuit. And Yellow Club in Shenzhen was bumbin’ for more than a few merry pranksters. That’s all we can recollect from our water and ink stained Delta reporter’s notepad….

Network news

If you can an indulge us in a moment of shameless self-aggrandizement, we’re pleased to be hosting yet another Delta Inter-Chamber Networking event Thursday night. With the British, German and European Union chamber, we’ll be gathering at our official mid-west Delta meeting place: Bellavista and Alex’s Bar in Zhongshan.

What’s all the fuss about Zhongshan? You’ll know next year when Guangzhou to Zhuhai light-rail makes it around 35 minutes from downtown GZ. Local property prices are likely to increase. Get in on the action now…We are.

Apart from attracting the city’s top foreign factory owners, the event from 7 to 10 pm features frothy German beer: Weihenstephan Original. Buy one, get one free. Buy two, get two free. Buy... For more details, dial 760-8881-2988 and ask for Peter Hourle. Or go to the web at: www.bellavista.cn

Brazilian Carnival

On Friday night: we hear that Executive Chef Michel Seyve is throwing an all night blow-out Brazilian Carnival. For those of you who have partied with Michel before in Guangzhou, make sure break for the beach this Friday to the Zhuhai Holiday Inn. We hear Michel has some exciting news to announce. Come pay homage to one of the Delta’s most dedicated chefs. Bring your boas and beads...

Korean rain

His shirt is off and he’s ready to get soaked. Korean mega-star Rain will be gracing the Macau Fashion Concert this Saturday night. If you have a date who loves Korean pop-stars (or chases the fans who do),
the Cotai Arena at the Venetian this Saturday is for you. We don’t often endorse shows by shirtless boy toys — but we’ve been hearing from a variety of ladies who go gaga for Rain. Bring your umbrellas…

Editor’s choice for Sunday lunch inGuangzhou:

For Sunday lunch, hit Les Trois Gros Bistro in Guangzhou’s Tianhe District. Auguste Escoffier medal holder Chef Ken Huynh’s savory French delights are bar none some of the most relaxing Parisian bites in Guangzhou. The chill out café atmosphere is just what we’re after to cap off the long weekend. We are particularly keen on the old French style of hand-roasted coffee. The beans are handpicked from Yunnan. We can hardly wait for the fresh java and our Sunday edition of the South China Morning Post….

Editor’s choice for a torrid night in Shenzhen:

Make a sudden escape to urban romance with your lover. Book a night the Ritz-Carlton Shenzhen. We’ve seen the resplendent rooms. We’ve seen the placid pool. And tried the fresh made fettucini with cream sauce and duck breast at Flavorz restaurant. Believe us, this is no mere business hotel. It’s an oasis in the center of Shenzhen’s silver skyline financial district of Futian.

Here, the mood in the rooms merit Moet Chandon, a basket of strawberries, spoons of whipped-cream, vanilla candles and Enya on surround sound. Perhaps two pairs of black velvet blind-folds…for sleeping in late when the sun rises. For bookings: 755-8448-7090.
