Creation: "Life is delicious. Eat. Taste. Create."
Naveed’s first visit to China was in 1996 when his sister was taking part in a cultural exchange initiative. He found it very interesting and different from America. When he came back to China a few years later, he was impressed by the noticeably rapid development and growth. He said, "One thing I believe about China is that it is the country of future. With that belief and a vision to see the world as one family, Sana and I decided to move away from our country of birth to a new land. We traveled to South America, India, Samoa, Tonga, Israel, New Zealand and also visited China. We soon found that all the doors were opened for us to stay in the People's Republic of China. We found jobs right away, made new friends and already had a place to stay. At first, we planned to stay for just a year or two, and then possibly head back to the States. However the longer we stayed, the more connected we felt to the people in the community and our friends. Here we are three years later, opening up a business."
Sana said, "Our dream is to provide an atmosphere at Creation for small children, teenagers, adults, and everyone to feel comfortable and happy! We have an iPad wall for customers to play games, candy machines for guests to decorate their own cupcakes, great music, tasty delights and even a VIP room for parties of all kinds. Please come and create joy together with us!" They then showed Delta Bridges staff their special chef hats with these words on them: "Create Love, Create Peace, Create Happiness, Create Joy."
"High quality ice cream is something new in this area" said Sana. "Compared with three years ago, not many restaurants catered to western tastes in Zhuhai, but three years later there are now at least ten different types of international choices. A café might not be that special, but one with delicious ice cream, DIY options, exceptional coffee, pizzas and a fun atmosphere for people of all ages is quite unique."
"We feel it is an advantage rather than a challenge for us to open a shop with a new concept,"said Sana. "People here are becoming more open minded and curious to try different things. Our shop has American style, yet our ice cream still has some Asian favorites such as Durian, Green Tea, Black Sesame, etc. They are all natural with no preservatives, no food colors or other additives. Each flavor is derived from its natural food source. Some customers tell us that when they try our strawberry flavor, it’s just like eating a delicious strawberry."
Creation: Designed to create an atmosphere of creativity and fun
Their belief about the oneness of humanity is what inspires them to stay in China and take on this new project. Sana said, "The diversity of humanity is what makes it so beautiful. Though we already have so much in common, we want to contribute to the diversity of Zhuhai by sharing our ‘Creation’ with community here."
About the shop Naveed said, "Our soft opening is on-going. Through word of mouth and the help of Delta Bridges, we seem to have a good number of regular guests. Some people even took photos and put them on Weibo. However we need all the help we can get promoting this new concept to the people of Zhuhai. We will likely have a big opening party when the complex and movie theatre is fully operational. What’s nice to see so far,is that our guests are now about 50% Chinese and 50% international, a very nice mix."
Speaking of their future plans, the couple said, "We know the plan for now is to continue to making this place fun and delicious. If Creation does well, perhaps we may consider opening up more branches. In the meantime we are so happy to be part of this wonderful community and beautiful city."
